Press Operator
SUMMARY
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE: Applicants with experience setting progressive metal stamping dies and punch press line equipment will take precedence over other candidates. Applicants with a solid work history in plastic, wood and the metal industries will be considered acceptable lateral experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Installs, and aligns dies in press according to written and verbal instructions.
- Adjusts press, straighteners, feeds, de-coilers and die controls to meet process requirements
- Operates material handling equipment to transport raw materials and stamping product.
- Places product identification labels on material and stamping product.
- Positions material against fixtures or stops on press bed or on die.
- Starts press and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.
- Performs and records required inspections of stamping product for conformance to specifications.
- Cleans and lubricates machines.
- Suggests measures to improve efficiency or safety of work performed, or quality of stampings produced.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school and 3 to 5 years related experience; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, blueprints, technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and tolerances. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics while performing duties are regularly:
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
