ITD Precision Houston is currently evaluating candidates with knowledge of Tool & Die making.
SUMMARY
Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to construct and repair simple and complex metalworking dies, cutting tools, and jigs and fixtures by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
- Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as saws, lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to produce die components and other parts.
- Verifies conformance of machined parts and die components to specifications.
- Lifts machined parts and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable.
- Assembles die components as per design specifications
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
- Records die repair and maintenance activities.
- Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
- Suggests preventive maintenance, or alteration of tooling to improve efficiency of the operation or life of tooling, or the quality of stampings produced.
- Confers with the Operations manager and other personnel regarding tooling design.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school and 3 to 5 years related experience; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, blueprints, technical procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry, and tolerances. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
