5S is a Lean Manufacturing tool to bring a high level of organization, cleanliness, and safety to the workplace.  Headed up by Zef Vega in the ITD Harlingen facility and Shelby Smith in the Houston facilty, a comprehensive 5S system will be kicked off in September, 2010.  “We have two champions of this program who will do a fine job of creating and maintaining a world class 5S program,” says Bill Tofte, VP of Systems and Information.  It is expected that both ITD plants will be 5S compliant by September 2011.  ITD Precision, continues to lead its industry in the execution of highly effective and efficient quality, management, and manufacturing systems.

For most American manufacturers, 2009 was one of the toughest on record. It was a year of a dramatic fall in demand, and equally dramatic volatility. The Management Team of ITD spent many difficult hours analyzing forecasts and monitoring its economic health, and ultimately made some of the tough decisions necessary to weather the storm. Thankfully, demand for metal stampings is back on a steady increase, but continued monitoring of ITD’s operation and financial condition is an absolute necessity. This is why a growing number of OEM’s are placing ITD in a “Preferred Vendor” status. ITD has the manufacturing, quality, and management systems to effectively meet its customers requirements in the long and short term.
